Field Researchers - Syria

360 Consulting Agency is expanding its network of field researchers across all 14 governorates of Syria to support upcoming research, monitoring, assessment, and evaluation assignments.

We are seeking reliable and experienced researchers who are based in Syria and have strong knowledge of their local context. Selected researchers may be engaged on short-term, project-based assignments involving quantitative and qualitative data collection with communities, institutions, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.

Applications are welcomed from researchers based in: Aleppo, Al-Hasakah, Damascus, Daraa, Deir ez-Zor, Hama, Homs, Idlib, Latakia, Quneitra, Raqqa, Rural Damascus, As-Suwayda, and Tartus.

Purpose of the Role

Field Researchers will support the collection of accurate, ethical, and context-sensitive data within their assigned governorates. Depending on the assignment, this may include conducting surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, observations, and field-level verification.

Researchers will work under the supervision of 360 Consulting’s research and field coordination team and will be expected to follow the approved methodology, data collection protocols, safeguarding requirements, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in project briefings and data collection training.
• Review and become familiar with the research tools, methodology, and fieldwork protocols.
• Conduct surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and other data collection activities as assigned.
• Identify and coordinate with eligible respondents in accordance with the approved sampling approach.
• Obtain informed consent and clearly explain the purpose and confidentiality of the research.
• Record responses accurately using approved digital or paper-based tools.
• Submit complete and accurate data within the agreed timelines.
• Prepare interview notes, field observations, and brief field summaries when required.
• Flag access constraints, safeguarding concerns, data-quality issues, or operational challenges promptly.
• Participate in daily debriefings and respond to feedback or requests for clarification.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and protect respondents’ personal information.
• Comply with 360 Consulting’s ethical, safeguarding, data-protection, and do-no-harm requirements.

Required Qualifications

Education

• University degree in social sciences, development studies, economics, public health, education, statistics, or another relevant field.
• Current university students with strong and relevant field experience may also be considered.

Experience

• At least one year of experience in field research, assessments, monitoring, evaluation, or humanitarian and development programming.
• Demonstrated experience conducting surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, or community consultations.
• Previous work with consulting firms, research organizations, NGOs, UN agencies, or international organizations is an advantage.
• Experience working with vulnerable or conflict-affected communities is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of the social, cultural, and operational context of the applicant’s governorate.
• Applicants must be currently based in the governorate for which they are applying.

Technical Skills

• Ability to conduct interviews professionally, neutrally, and respectfully.
• Familiarity with digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, or similar tools is preferred.
• Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, or computer for data collection and communication.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols consistently.
• Ability to produce clear field notes and brief written summaries.
• Qualitative facilitation, transcription, or translation skills are an advantage.

Languages

• Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is mandatory.
• Working proficiency in English is an advantage.
• Knowledge of additional locally relevant languages or dialects is an asset.

Engagement will depend on project needs, geographic coverage, availability, and demonstrated suitability for each assignment.
