Sustainable Water Solutions: Arsal's Water Supply System

Arsal’s 35,000 Lebanese residents and nearly 60,000 Syrian refugees face chronic water scarcity, compounded by failing infrastructure and governance gaps. The Bekaa Water Establishment struggled with limited capacity, weak customer engagement, and no inclusive framework to integrate refugees into public services, creating risks to long-term sustainability and stability. 

To close these gaps, WeWorld-GVC and the ICRC engaged 360 Consulting to conduct an in-depth, field-driven assessment of the contextual, institutional, and social dynamics shaping water supply. The resulting evidence informed targeted WASH solutions designed to reinforce institutional resilience, enhance governance and service delivery, and secure equitable access for the most vulnerable.
